Social Media for Writers

Dates: March 5-16, 2012   

By the end of this 10 day course, you will have your social media up and running, as well as a working knowledge of the etiquette and tips and tricks for Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, etc.

This is a very hands-on course with lots of opportunity to ask questions, so whether you're a social media novice, or just want to enhance your online presence, this class is the right place to start.

Day 1: Intro of who I am and why I do this, overview of Facebook and Twitter, and setting up a "fan" page on Facebook.

Day 2: Setting up a Twitter page

Day 3: Back to Facebook, Anatomy of the "fan" page, streams, tagging and sharing

Day 4: Back To Twitter, Streams, Searching and ReTweeting

Day 5 Still on Twitter, Etiquette, Interaction and FollowFriday Saturday and Sunday - Q&A's, Maintenance

Day 6 Back To Facebook, Etiquette and Interaction

Day 7 Still on Facebook, Events and add-on apps

Day 8 Back to Twitter, Hashtags, Lists, Paper.IL

Day 9 Goodreads, Intro and overview, Page set up

Day 10 Linking social media pages (or not), Social Oomph, TwitterKarma, twhirl, blogfeeds


Lisa Kessler

Lisa Kessler writes dark paranormal fiction, and enjoys connecting with writers and readers through social media. Her debut novel Night Walker has recently been released from Entangled Publishing, and her short stories have been published in multiple anthologies. Her vampire tale "Immortal Beloved" was a finalist for a Bram Stoker Award. Lisa is President of the San Diego Chapter of RWA.

Ken Kessler

Ken Kessler is a social media user, who has driven millions of listeners to his Christmas radio station each year since 2007, exclusively using social media sites. He is also a social media manager for several clients, including the nationally syndicated Doug Stephan Show. He is also the author of the TV trivia book "You Watch Too Much TV".
